Well, first of all, if you just set up your website last week you can’t expect to already be in the top 1,000 in any search engine.

There are millions and millions of sites on the internet and to break into the top 100,000 would be a major feat after years on the internet.

Now, keep in mind that you can ‘buy’ your placement on most of the search engines but if you are like most of us, who wants to spend money.

Submit your site once per month to the major search engines, go ahead and submit it to the less known engines about once every two weeks.

What ever you do – don’t waste your time placing ads on free for all (FFA) websites as you will get nothing more than junk email in return for your efforts.

Research and find all the free directories you can to list your site based upon the kind of business site you have.

Make sure you have proper key words in your meta tag on the home page of your website. (HTML codes)

Be patient – promote your site when ever and where ever you can on the internet. You should spend 70% of your time promoting your website. (70% of your time on the computer that is – don’t forget you have a life, more than likely another job, etc.)

Paid adword placements vs optimizing organic search results?

I am the owner of a small business web site.
Unforetunately the guy who built the sight didn’t give much time to thinking about Search Engine Optimization. The sight doesn’t visibly rank anywhere on the popular search engines.

I have two options invest the money on SEO to improve the organic search result ranking or opt for paid ad placements.

For the fastest immediate traffic results which way should I go?

you can use a combination. Don’t get stuck to just one idea. Affiliate programs, articles, directories, blogging, etc…
