Hi there,
5 months ago I set up a new website: www.royalnannies.co.uk , I read a lot about SEO, how to choose keywords, metatags, not to spam… get reciprocal links etc…
I have done my best, however im still not receiving the results i was hoping for.
I managed to get my page rank from 0 to 3… but that didnt seem to have any efect on my positioning under certain keywords…
There is so many sites above me which have less links and lower page rank.. I dont get it. Can someone help me please?
Pretty please
Any help welcome on links@royalnannies.co.uk

I have heard about using image alt tags… however my web builder – 1and1.co.uk doesn't seem to have a function of putting them in, and if I try to simply insert the html code, all i get is a red cross showing it wasnt done properly…
Can someone help me please?

Nice looking site!
One of your biggest problems is the huge number of "span style" tags you have on the page. These make the page much longer than it needs to be increasing loading time, but more importantly "diluting" the content.
The Search Engines calculate how much of your page is taken up by keywords, and use this to calculate rankings. A good amount is between 5 – 10%, any more and it will be seen as spamming.
In your case though, there are so many tags that your percentage of keywords drops right down, so the search engines see your page as less important.
Use CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) instead, and you`ll be able to get exactly the same look and lose 75% of your page which is unnecessary. This will increase your keyword density and has the added bonus that your page will load much faster, and you`ll use less bandwith!

Is there an affordable SEO company that can help me?
I'm looking for SEO company that can help me in increasing my traffic..
Before you choose an SEO company, you need to learn the language of SEO.
My recommendation is to visit Search Engine Watch (link referenced below) and spend a few hours reading their site.
Then you have three options:
1) Hire an SEO company – If you go this route, try Googling SEO – You may find better pricing if you go a few pages down in the search results. Be vary wary of anyone who guarantees rankings.
2) Hire an in-house person. This is often the best option because an in-house person can learn your business better.
3) Try to do it yourself. I recommend this option. Why not make your best stab at it? My guess is that you might surprise yourself. Then later, if you want, you can hire an expert. If you do decide you need an expert, at least now you will know the language and understand what you are paying. That will save you serious money.
If you want to try it yourself, here's a very brief primer on the basics:
First and foremost, understand what Google wants. Google wants to match searchers with what they are REALLY looking for.
That is your guiding principle.
Don't try to game the system. You can do just fine by giving Google what it wants.
There are 5 basic principles to SEO:
1) Title Tags – make your page titles match your priority keywords.
2) Text Content – Your site must contain text that is useful to your visitors and includes your keywords.
3) Alt Tags – Every image on a page can be named with a keyword.
4) Header Tags – Each section of text can have a "headline" that includes your keywords.
5) Links – You need RELEVANT links from other web sites.
Do these things and you are off to a great start!
